    The zone diet, doctor’s Barry Sears idea is an equilibrate control between carbohydrates, proteins and fats, all what the organism need to well function.Being a former researcher in biotechnology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, now researcher on hart diseases and type 2 diabetes, Doctor Sears is proposing a new way of life, a diet that can help you burn fat, boost energy, control hunger and most important, lose weight in a rational way. 

     You can eat most of the aliments that you have eat before starting this diet. The secret is the quantities that are being consumed at each meal. Zone diet plan include 3 meals per day and 2 snacks. Most fruits and vegetables are allowed, but are preferred those that are low carbohydrate. You have to cut out most high-carbohydrates aliments, such as breakfast cereals, rice, potatoes, pasta, noodles, bread, bagels, croissants, muffins, crisps, pastries, pies, chocolate, sweets, sugar and preserves.

     Skinless chicken, turkey and fish should, that are low-fat protein-rich foods, should be eaten with every meal. Eating fewer foods that contain saturates and choosing foods that are rich in monounsaturates, such as olive oil, avocado and nuts, is also recommended. No caffeine is allowed. No coffee, tea or cola-type drinks. Exercise, at least three times a week, is necessary.

 
 

    The perfect ratio at a meal should be 40:30:30, meaning 40% carbohydrate, 30% protein and 30% fat. For an easy way to keep these percents you can divide your plate in 3 parts, one containing aliments high-proteined, such as chicken meat, no bigger than the size and thickness of the palm of the hand, and the others fruits and vegetables. The number of calories consummate at one meal is also important. You should avoid high calories aliments.

    The ground rule that is at the base of doctor’s Sears diet is the control of the insulin blood level and of the eicosanoids. The benefits of controlling eicosanoids are decreased inflammation and increased blood flow, which will help improve virtually every chronic disease condition and improve physical performance. When the organism need energy , a hormone called glucagon moves the glucoses from the liver in the blood. In opposite with him, insulin is responsible for depositing glucose, and therefore, gaining weight.

     A balance between these two hormones help the organism to stay fit and not store more that is necessary. A diet with moderate protein level, moderate-fat and moderate carbohydrates, assure an equilibrium between the needs of the organism and the quantities that is being used.

But losing weight is not the only benefits of this diet. The control of the eicosanoids, help the blood flow, and reduce inflammation, decreasing the risk of cardiac attack.
