 Losing one-pound-per-day can be a reality if you use the Scarsdale diet, at least that is what Doctor Herman, the initiator of this diet promises.This is not a diet to be kept for the entirely life, because of the low carbs, low-fats that encourage.This diet is based on consuming high fiber, and lowering the intake of calories.

     Only three meals are allowed, snacks don’t. The meals should be taken at a specific time all the period that diet is followed. Drinking lots of water is also encouraged, because water helps faster the weight-lose. At least four glasses of water per day have to be consumed. Physical exercises are not required, only if they were in your life program before the diet. As doctor Tarnower says, if you fallow strictly his diet, you will shed unwanted pounds without over exercises.

    Strenuous exercise and activities are not recommended when following this diet plan, because of the low calories eaten, less than 1000 per day. The low level of calories ingested is the main concept of this diet. Losing weight happens because of the low calories intake. Also herbal appetite suppressant pills are some times encouraged.Because of the low carbs, low fat diet, lacks of vitamins and minerals can appear. The vegetarians, if they follow Scarsdale diet, and don’t drink milk, witch is not allowed, can present a deficit of calcium.

    

 
 

    Some people can be deprived at the ending of these seven or fourteen days of diet. Scarsdale diet can be followed by people that want to lose about twenty pounds very quickly. Those that have tried it say that it works indeed. Fats, like butter or spreads, carbs, like sugar, are not permitted. For lunch, meat, as a source of protein is accepted, but with all visible fat removed. Only water, diet drinks, tea or soda water and sometimes coffee, in some quantities, are allowed.

    Dinner brings fish or shellfish, a salad, a slice of protein bread, a grapefruit half, or coffee and tea.If the meals don’t bring you the quantities of food needed for you, you can have some snacks between meals, but you can eat only carrots and celery, as much as you want.

    Following this diet will bring your organism in a state of safe ketosis, meaning that your body will start use the fats deposited in you fats tissue, because the fats brought from outside are not enough for the well function of the organism.After these two weeks, a maintenance regime has to be followed. No potatoes, bread, desserts, peanut butter, sausage, butter and the list can go on.
