All you ever need to know about the Atkins Diet

The doctor’s Atkins Diet is based on reducing carbohydrate from daily life and replace it with high-protein, high-fat regim.Carbohydrates are the most abundant class of organic compounds found in livingOrganisms. They are also called saccharine or, if they are relatively small, sugars. The organism uses the carbohydrates for energy. Fresh vegetables, refined sugar, whole-grain wheat bread are just some examples of aliments containing carbohydrates.

The idea of the Atkins diet is to eat high-protein, high fat diet, and low carbohydrates, because they are responsible of increasing the glycemic index, and activate insulin, the hormone responsible for moving the sugar from cells into the blood, to be used as energy. If the sugar is not burned, it will depose and that is the process of how the gain weight is happening. This diet is not just a simple diet; it’s more a dietary phases taken step by step, sometimes all your life.

The diet start’s with 14 day induction period, in witch you have to consume only 20 carbohydrates per day. In this period may appear some bad breath or constipation, but is just the organism that tries to accept the new regime. Although if others symptoms appear you should consult a physician.

Second phase consist in ongoing weight loss until the low minimum carbohydrate are achieved, meaning the low quantities of carbohydrate admitted.Commencing 5-10 pounds away from reaching target weight is the third phase of Atkins diet. The last phase is the easiest, maintenance of the weight achieved. You can keep this diet all your life, as Doctor Atkins has donned it. Eating when you are hungry, meat, eggs, cheese, nuts, butter, cream, and lots of non-starchy vegetables. Drinking lots of water is also recommended to help flush the fat and toxins out of the cells. Vitamin’s supplements are needed because many of them can be eliminated by restricted carbohydrates or too much water.

Vegetarian or vegan can also use this diet. They have to eliminate junk food and white flour and sugar, and most processed foods, fresh vegetables, nuts, berries, seeds and some fruit in moderation. Tofu, eggs and chess, beans are allowed and also fish from time to time. There were studies that shown how effective is doctor Atkins Diet. Two dozen obese volunteers agreed to follow Atkins's diet for eight weeks and lost an average of 17 pounds each, with no apparent ill effects, although their L.D.L. cholesterol did go up. Although this studies and others like this were never published.

There are also peoples that are against the Atkins diet. Doctors have said that a low carbohydrate level can cause fatigue, depression, dehydration, high fat level can cause heart problems, diarrhea, ketosis, witch means that the organism burn its own fats for fuel. But ketosis can have unpleasant effect over the organism. The President of the American College of Nutrition said, "Of all the bizarre diets that have been proposed in the last 50 years, this is the most dangerous to the public if followed for any length of time."Some doctors say that:” It is disturbing that Dr. Atkins may have been less than honest with the public in such a way as to spread a message that many doctors and health organizations say is dangerous.”

Doctor Atkins died in April 2003 by a heart attack. Some say that he didn’t have heart problems, the cause of dead being a viral cardiomyopathy, others says that his own regime lead him to his dead, by occluding the coronary arteries from his heart, the cause of occluding being the fat deposited to the arteries walls.

Get your facts straight. It is on record that Dr. Atkins did in fact die as the result of a fall the 72 year old doctor had and resultant brain injury. Went into a coma and never emerged.

Yes, it's on record that Dr. Atkins did in fact die as the result of a fall, but we will never know for sure if the fall was caused by a heart attack or not.
